Create More Space in Your Home this Holiday Season with These 3 Remodeling Options

When was the last time you hosted a party inside your home? Last year, during the holidays, or was it only a few weeks ago? Or, do you only try to entertain during the warmer months of the year when everyone can be outside in your yard and on the deck?

If you are short on space inside your home, you are going to want to find a way to increase how many people you can fit in one or more areas. This may not be easy, but if you haven’t renovated your basement yet, you have a wealth of space waiting to be used. And if you have, we know that you can reconfigure another area of your home to create the space that you are longing for.

Here are 3 remodeling options that will help you create more space in your home this holiday season:

  1. Add a Guest Bedroom

All those out of town guests may always be welcomed at your home, but if you are letting them bunk on air mattresses in the middle of the family room, you might have a problem. We recommend finding the space to add a guest bedroom, so that all your overnight guests have a comfortable space to spend some downtime during the day and at night.

  1. Add a Spacious Bar

Many people will try to squeeze a bar area into their kitchen or dining area, but if you can set up this feature in another space, you will reap the benefits immensely. You can utilize this space as a serving area or seating area for parties, as well as any other time of the year. While we love bars that are upstairs, near the kitchen, we also think that they are excellent down in basements, especially if you have an entertainment or family room down there.

  1. Tear Down a Wall to Create an Open Space

If walls are preventing you from fitting more than a couple of people in each room in your home, we recommend considering tearing at least one of them down. Your contractor can help you decide if this is possible, while also creating a plan on how to utilize your new space the best.

If you do not have the time to make significant changes, we recommend choosing two rooms in your home for entertaining. One of those spaces can be for the children, giving them a place to play and hang out, while the other can be for the adults. The adults will love the quieter space in the room that they are in, while the children will love not being watched every single second.

Don’t worry if your holiday entertaining isn’t perfect this year, as it is more important to spend time with family and friends. However, when it is all over, you may have a better idea of your needs for the future, which means that you can start planning a renovation after the first of the year.
